Lens Review: Canon 70-200mm F/2.8L IS USM

The Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS USM lens is a very versatile lens and can be used for different types of photography. This lens is good for sports photography, portrait photography, wildlife photography, and wedding / event photography. The versatility is due to its internal focusing system being very fast and quiet. The quiet IF system comes in handy for weddings or any other type of photography where you need to be somewhat quiet.

A quiet IF system makes it easier to capture candid images without intruding. I personally love the 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS USM lens for weddings. Not only is the IF system great, but the Image Stabilization is one feature I can’t do without. Image Stabilization will not stop all motion, but it allows images to be shot at a lower handheld shutter speed. This is especially true when it comes to low light situations. The IS System will not replace the need of a tripod, but it will help.

The lens is a bit heavy. If you’re not used to shooting with a lens this size the weight might take a bit to get used to. However, the weight becomes a non-issue given that the quality of the lens is impeccable. Another good quality of this lens is that it offers good color and contrast. Every image has a good balance between color and contrast that makes the image pop. In my opinion the quality of this lens is undeniably excellent.

Even though the Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 L IS USM lens is an older version, I considered this lens to be top-notch. I know for me this is a lens is a must have.
