The Winning Cameras of World Press Photo 2018

In 1955, a group of Dutch photographers organized World Press Photo, an international photo contest, to bring their work to a global audience. Since that time, World Press Photo has become the world’s premier photojournalism contest. The 2018 contest winners were announced on Thursday, April 12. While the photographer, not the camera, creates the photo, as buyers and sellers of used photography equipment, we are curious about the gear used to create the winning images. Of the total 129 winning photos, 96 had details (via metadata) on the cameras they were shot with. Not surprisingly, Nikon and Canon were the most used brands, with representation from Sony, Fujifilm, Leica, and Pentax, too. The Nikon D5, Nikon D810, and Canon EOS 5D Mark III were the most used cameras among the winning set. Learn more about them below:

NIKON D5
